I have a set of Tikka quick release mounts and integral rings, I have succeeded in messing up the slots in the heads. Anyone know where I can get replacement screws from. I don't know the thread because no one seems to have a measuring gauge for metric. The mounts are several years old so I don't believe that Sako/Beretta will be much help, but I could certainly try.
Thanks, Peter.

Call Brownell's 800-741-0015 and ask for tech services. Ask them if you can mail them the screws and get replacements from them.....A generous tip might be in order here.

You can measure metric threads without a gauge, just using calipers. Just measure the diameter and round it up to the next full or half mm. Then measure the distance between five or ten thread crests and divide by five or ten. That number is the pitch of the screw.

Take an old screw to a large home improvement store like Lowe's, Home Depot or Home Base and go to the aisle where they sell screws. The Lowe's near my house has a board there where you can try different holes including metric to verify the size screw that you have.

Boy thanks guys. Lowes or Home Depot was my next step. JV I will try your idea first, then verify at HD or Lowes and see how close I was! I went to my friendly gunsmith and asked him about Brownell's and he said they wouldn't have it! Well aphone call will tell.

In case anyone is interested, here is the current status of my search:
1. Brownells doesn't have metric screws.
2. The local fastner company, while it had metric screws did not have anyhting that small.
3. I was unable to get anywhere close to accurate measurements of the pitch.
4. Beretta wants $4.50 per screw, and is out of stock! They did however give me the measurement of 5 x 7.5 which I can hopefully use to locate another source.

Try MSC, J&L, Travers, McMaster Carr, Small Parts.com, MicroMark, etc.

Most will only sell by the hundred, but one of them might sell them individually or by the dozen.

Peter,
I had some metric screws I needed about a year ago. I just started calling gunsmiths till I found one who had them. Gave them a credit card number and they shipped the next day.
You might want to try someone who specializes in Sakos.

I tried every avenue I could think of to find replacement screws for my Sako Optilock ring screws, and eventually had to dole out the $4.00 per screw to Beretta. I felt like I got screwed (pun intended).

The size you were given (5x7.5) presumably means a metric 5mm screw that is 7.5mm in length. If this is so, I can get you any number you want if you can wait for an airmail envelope from South Africa. E-mail me at info@carparts.co.za

You might try McMaster-Carr, they have about every type of metric screw. You might have to buy a box of 100 but they would only cost about what 2 screws would from your other source.
