Fellas I am no good at this so some basic advice would be appreciated. I recently bought a used .243 Brno ZKK 601. It is accurate and I've shot about ten deer with it this season the only issue is that spent cases are not flung very far away, often sitting in the loading port after I pull the bolt back. It is intereresting that when I cycle the gun with full (unfired) ammo, it gets flicked clear of the rifle with ease and no effort, the problem is only apparent with fired cases... Any suggestions would be kindly received. Thanks Gabriel

Had a 550 with a similar problem a while back. The chamber had a little rough spot in it that caused the case to hang up just enough that I didn't hit the ejector hard enough. The thing about a fixed ejector is that you gotta HIT it, if you just bump into it (trying to be quiet loading that second round for a follow up shot or trying not to throw brass into the bushes) it will generally flip over and lay in the loading gate. Get the silly stuff out of the way first (it took me forever to figure out it wasn't the rifle). If the ejector IS a bit short, just weld a bit of filler rod to the tip and file it to match the profile. Careful, though, if you add too much metal, it won't "duck" under the bolt when you slide it forward (never liked where BRNO put the ejector pin). Hair, not Air! Rob Martin
