Savage shooters frequently change barrels because it is so easy to do so. Many of us have lots of swap barrels.

Has anyone tried ultrasonic cleaning of the rifle barrels when they are removed from the rifle ?

If you can find one that won’t be ruined by the chemicals needed to remove carbon and copper fouling they might work, but I will bet that you would still have to follow up with some manual cleaning with either brushes or patches anyway so I’m not sure what you would be gaining.

Howard who posts on here has some large ultrsonic cleaners. It would be interesting to have him clean a take off barrel that was dirty and see how good a job it does.
