Ruger M77 MkII trigger

ledvmRuger M77 MkII trigger
I traded for an older but like new compact M77 MkII in .308 W.
I mounted my testing target scope on it and am going to shoot it a bit to see if it will shoot good enough to keep.
Provided it does...the trigger is pretty heavy on it. It is not really creepy and does not have a lot of over travel...just heavy. I don’t have a scale but it is noticeably heavy.
What is the best solution to lighten? I have never really messed with Ruger rifles before.

Toomany ToolsReplacing the factory trigger with a Timney adjustable is the easiest way to improve it.

Fury01 http://erniethegunsmith.com/catalog/c1_p1.htmlNothing easier than this on new ruger triggers. A touch of stone if you want it better. Instructions on the site.

jeffeossoi use these triggers on savages, but assume they will work well on Rugers
https://riflebasix.com/product...77-trigger-ru-mk-ll/but a new spring, and a little stoning, the 77s shoot well

ledvmI will shoot it and see if it blows my dress up. If so looks like a new trigger is the way to go. I have heard good things about those Rifle Basix triggers...are they way cheaper than a Timney...which seems the gold standard?
Also...there are a lot of people who swear by just changing the spring.

jeffeossoI haven't had to do anything but spring and stone a ruger 77 trigger to be happy with a hunting rifle

BobsterAgree. That's all they need. We cut a coil off the stock and stone. Easy to get three crisp pounds w/o creep.
