Evening Gents Have just managed to get hold of a Ruger #3 action for an upcoming project and plan to build something classical in 7x57 or similar on it in time. However, in my eyes at least, the #3 lever is as ugly as a dropped pie! Is it possible to fit a #1 lever to the #3 action? Or alternatively, has anyone seen one reshaped into something more pleasing to the eye? If the above is possible, where would one find a #1 lever? Cheers Dan

Just trade or sell your #3 and get a #1. You also have to get the #1 trigger guard. It is not just the lever.

Just get the one on the #3 shaped the way you want it or get a #1.

if you know a good welder just cut the rear of the number three lever off and weld it back on so it looks sorta like a dakota 10. clean up the weld and have it blued. the lever/ locking device is completely different on the number three and the number one.

Thanks gents, The Dakota 10 looks exactly like I had picuted Granted, the #1 action would be a "less stuffing around" starting point but Ruger actions are scarce over here! I will send a pic or 2 off to a couple of gunsmiths and se what they can come up with.

I may be mistaken but, I thought the Number 3's were no longer in production and bring a pretty good price on the used market. You may want to sell it and get a Number 1.
