Mauser Feeding Question

I just picked up a Modelo 1935 Peruvian FN Mauser that was arsenal converted to 30-06. It's been Bubba-ized, but it wants to shoot. The only real problem is that it will not feed cartridges from the left side of the magazine. What does it take to get this thing to feed like a Mauser? A new follower, rail work, or both? Thanks in advance, Okie John.

Likely it needs rail work, or possibly some releif work on the extractor...

Okie John..Make sure that your bottom metal is mating up properly with the reciever..If there is a gap between the top of the mag well and the bottom of the rails you will have feeding issues...this is not an uncommon situation when bubba strikes...sometimes swapping out the follower and magazine spring can make a difference too..

I hope the rails havn't already been Bubba-ized. The 06 should feed if the the metal to wood fit is right.

Thanks for the replies. The stock is numbered to the action and does not appear to have been altered. I'll look at the rails tonight. I'll check Sarco for the follower and spring, but if that doesn't work, who do you recommend to do this work? Thanks in advance, Okie John.

An 8x57 follower will usually work for a .30-06, 8x60 and 9.3x62.

If it has the original 7x57 follower, the only other cartridge it usually works for is the 7x64. The 7mm cases have much more taper and narrower shoulders than their 8x57 based brethren.

If this follower is original, it would be for the 7.65x53 Argentine. Would that cause the same problems as a 7x57 follower? Okie John

The 7.65 has pretty much the same case dimensions as the 7x57, so it might be the problem.

Try an 8x57 follower before you touch the feed rails.
