was brought a made in Italy o/u 12ga. no brand name or other markings, only skeet stamped on both barrels. guns looks well made and tight.
it is single trigger. in looking at action, the only way I see that barrel selection can be made is to move the safety and select other barrel after your first shot.
I have never seen this befor, any one know way it was made this way? looks to be hard to shoot doubles with it.
thank you----capt.parker

Recoil from the first shot sets the trigger to fire the second barrel. Very common on single trigger doubles.
You can test it by (with weapon unloaded) dry-fireing the first barrel, than thump the butt on the floor, and pull the trigger again to dry fire the second barrel.
Some set easy enough that slapping the butt with your just palm will complete the change over.
The "slide safety on, slide safety off" thing works well (if you remember it) when field hunting and get a dud shell in the first barrel, at least you can get off one shot at that departing bird.

A shotgun with both barrels choked the same really doesn't need a selective trigger. It should fire the lower barrel first as that is generally considered to be easier on the gun over it's lifetime of use. If you find it fires the top barrel first keep looking for a selector.

Capt Parker, use the safety and move it to the side to select the other barrel before you shoot. That is the barrel selector. Leave it that way and it will shoot that barrel first. Set it as mentioned to shoot the bottom barrel first. It reduces barrel whip from the lesser moment arm (distance from the bore to the point of rotation on your shoulder) of the recoil.
