Need advice on older Savage in 30-06

A co-worker asked me if I would like to purchase a 17-18 year old Savage rifle in 30-06, shot less then 40 times. My question is this, what would be a fair price? I have not seen it with my own eyes, and he told me that it has not been shot in the last 12 years.

My second question, how hard would it be to rebarrel this rifle? Or perhaps rechamber it to 30-06 AI?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Lot's of things to consider, does it have a scope? What shape is the rifle in? Savages' are very easy to rebarrel, and yes, you can rechamber to 30-06AI.

Assuming like new condition, $250.00 would be a fair price. Used out here runs $190.00 to $290.00 depending on model and caliber for 110's.

If Elmer didn't say it, it probably ain't true.

My co-worker told me that it does have a $40 scope on it, that is, it was a $40 scope when he purchased the rifle 18 years ago.
