I'd suggest watching the websites. They come up occassionally. You won't see them very often at gun shows. Champlin and Lewis Drake had a couple awhile back. You could also call Lee Helgeland (406-837-2041) and see if he'd sell the one I just sold him. Only about 20K were made from around 1956-1962, they weren't imported into the U.S. and importing one from Canada or overseas has gotten alot more difficult than it once was. Have you built a 404 on a ZKK action? I actually think it would be a better choice. With a little surface grinding, polishing, M-70 safety and a new stock they make beautiful magnum Mausers. And the ZKK-602 action is a perfect size for the 404.

Where can a guy get one of these ZG 47 actions to make into a 404? I can have Ted Blackburn convert my double square bridge action to accept his 404 bottom metal and then rebarrel and restock. Can you think of a better way to go???

I had thought of that, but there is so much extra work needed to be done to to make it worthy of a true custom that I figured it would be best to start with a better action.

K9- A friend of mine just bought one of those hybrids like yours on the bottom. His was made in 1950, the ZG bolt is numbered to the 21-H small ring action, so it is correct. At first, I thought it might be a "parts gun" but if it is it was done at the factory. The 21/22 triggerguard is specially cut for the single ZG trigger, also obviously by the factory and very unusual, not like 21/22 rifles with single triggers. His also has the ZG bolt stop release rather than the 21/22 type, and the cocking piece is 21/22 style rather than the type on ZG with a series of concentric circles. An unusual piece.
