I have a M700 in 223Rem and was thinking of boring and rechambering to 6x47.
This looks to me to be a pretty simple conversion but wanted to get some feedback and opinions before doing it.

Either that or rebarrel. I'd just rebarrel it unless there's something special about the barrel itself you'd like to save.

Shoot straight, shoot often.

Your ,223 barrel if it still has a nice bore might bring $80 to $100 toward a new barrel.

I have 2 6 X 47. If your plan on shooting large volumes you might consider the 6X45. It is very similiar but your basic brass is much more plentiful.

He is right, otherwise it is a very simple barrel job. Oh, used 700 barrels typically do not bring much more than tent stake price in common calibers.

Personally I'd do a 6x45 and call it good.

Two years ago I converted an AR to 6X45 and made a space gun for "across the course" NRA Hi=power. The lighter bullets work fine, like the Berger 85gr but the Sierra 95gr even loaded for single feed @ 600 don't have enough "snoose" to hold better than the 8 ring. So now I'm in the works to get it rechambered to the 6mm Hagen cartridge. That requires the barrel extention to be replaced and that I'm thinking is going to get a little tricky, keeping the gas port clocked in properly.

I always make a decision on the final result/use.

What do you plan to use the rifle for after conversion. May just be better choices to fulfill your needs.

I can't get the thing to shoot to MOA and thought I might try boring it to see if there was something wrong with the barrel. It's my varmint rig but with all of the work I have done on it (replaced and bedded stock, replaced barrel, trued action, replaced scopes, tried various bullets, powders, etc.) it still is at about 2MOA.
The barrel is currently back at the manufacturer so we'll see if they can come up with anything.. This rifle has been an exercise in frustration.
