I have a Savage Model 1899 in 250-3000 savage and am wanting to know the version (E, F, G, etc) of it.

The barrel has several patent dates on it up to 1909, the barrel is stamped high pressure, and the front sight is made into the barrel with an adjustable gold bead. Rear sight is semi-buck sporting type made by DW King.

The magazine is the rotating type with the indicator on the left side of the receiver. The safety is on the right and locks the trigger and the lever. Behind the breechblock is a cocking indicator and behind that are two screws holes in line with the indicator for a receiver sight.

The stock is walnut and checkered with a solid black recoil pad with two red rubber rings around it and a round cutout in the butt of it with plug like a trapdoor (pad looks original, could it be). Also on the inside of the forearm stock there is a round cutout with a steel washer(with square center) in it behind the latch, what is it for, a bore brush maybe.

Serial number - 137xxx, bore is like new and condition of metal and wood is 95%-98%, any idea what year it is and approx value.

Thanks,

RJS

Sorry guys for the duplicate post, you'd think I'd have these things down after 25 yrs.
