Howdy Guys, Can a Ruger #1 in 22-250 be rechambered to a 220 swift? If so, will the ejector ect still work?
Any info will be very helpful

Thanks
Bill

It would be necessary to set the barrel back almost two inches. The 22-250 is larger in diameter than the swift.

You can go to the 22-250 Ackley Improved which will meet or exceed 220 Swift performance. No set-back required if your barrel is OK now.

Loading data for the 22-250 AI is readily available but 220 Swift data makes good starting loads.

That works sometime. I am not familiar with the 22-250 AI, but Ackley himself recommended setting the barrel back before rechambering. I have found this to be a good idea. Most factory chambers are sloppy, and they often have too much headspace when rechambered to fire both the improved and the factory cartridge, which was the whole point of the AI wildcats. Once rechambered without setting back, the chamber is often to loose to headspace factory shells.

If you want to fireform factory cases in the AI chamber the barrel must be set back. The standard GO gage, is the NO GO for Ackley chambers

That is the normal way because its easier to assume than to measure. If you have a quater rib or particularly fine barrel inletting that you don't want to mess with you can always check headspace first before you start cutting.
