I doubt that you can get a CZ cheaper than a Ruger . The blued ones go on sale quite often for under $400 and I just bought a new stainless for $430 . You get scope rings for that price too .

I've been very pleased with my (now wifes) M77 Mk II .308. It is a very well made gun, accurate with bullets from 147 gr mil surp to 220 gr rn and everything I've tried in between. Ruger is known for excellent customer service, and a solid product. The gun has integral bases and comes with rings. As was mentioned, you ought to be able to find one in the $400 range on special. The reason many of us like the CZ 550 is it is about as close to an M98 as you'll find in a modern gun, albeit with trigger "safety" vs a striker block on the original M98, and with the Ruger when in the rear position. Why we really like the 550 is in the magnum version, it provides an affordable option for the really big bores.

Keep your eyes open at Wal-Mart for deals on Rugers!! The local one had a 30.06 SS Laminate stock on clearance for $338!!! Just missed getting it, guy bought one day before I went to get it. Thought you might like to know.

A Ruger Mark II Model 77 Stainless with Ruger sights on the barrel, and Ruger rings too boot, in a laminated stock ... Well, that is just like having the Swedish Bikini Team parachute into your back yard. Forget the CZ if you can find a Ruger in the short magnum or standard cartridge you want! ------------------
