Hello: I have a recoil pad that I want to keep on an older gun, the pad is OK...except that to get the stock sanded down, the edges of the open or waffle type recoil pad got nice & smooth & streamlined to the stock just fine..but... Question is...does any gunsmith or gunsmithing types know how to regain the finish on the rubber again? To make it look newlike instead of a satiny surface? There must be some treatment to rub on to refresh the color again...but I don't know about it. Anyone have any experience in this? Usually on worn pads, the pad is simply replaced...but at times, if the pad is otherwise OK, you may want to keep the original pad, say on collector guns when no factory pad is now unavailable. Thanks. Tom

I generally kiss it very lightly on a fine disk sander, it gets rid of the old glaze.

I have glass beaded, under low pressure, old glazed over pads. Doesn't make them look like new, but makes a big improvement.

Thanks all: I think I'll try "Armor All" first...dont' know why didn't think of it...getting old...like the 96 year old who went in the drug store & asked the Pharmacist for Vigara cut inot 1/4 sizes. The druggist told the 96 year old...1/4 won't give you an erection...the old guy said...I don't care...I just want it to stick out enough so I won't piss on my slippers>" Best regards, Tom from Cody...
