The trigger on my marlin model 80 is very stiff. It doesn't have any creep but the pull weight is close to 8lbs. Any suggestions on how to lighten this with out an aftermarket trigger? I have thought about cutting off a turn or two of the springs. Would that work?

NEVER cut springs in an attempt to "lighten" a trigger pull. The Marlin 80 trigger is a real PITA to work but it can be done by a gunsmith who is familiar with the system. I have done several with good results.
