After several hours of searching through boxes of magazines, I found the specific issue/article. I will post more tomorrow.

Hi All,
Drumroll please...

Just kidding! The article "The many faces of the 788 Remington" by D.L Rowe is in Rifle #60 Nov-Dec 1978 pgs 32-34 & 60. There is a picture of the trigger and modifications and text to document. Three holes are d/t for overtravel, weight-of-pull and sear engagement adjustment. Part of the article documents a target rifle conversion. He even took two clips and welded them together to make a 5-shot clip for a modified BR rail forend addition. Talks about a few other 788's as well. Send me a PM with your address and I can see how many copies I need to get out. Glad to be of help here. I think I have another vintage 788 article around somewhere? by the same author about how he restyled the 788 stock to make it more "classic" looking.
Regards,
Jeff P
