According to the info I have here, FN used a 1" in 8.7" twist. Can't answer re the throating. I would think that the Speers will work just fine, although the faster twists work better for the longer, heavier bullets.

That twist will work for the 7x57 and that is standard..They even shoot 130 gr. Speers very well as a rule and that is an excellent deer and antelope bullet, I have used it extensively on medium game...The 145s are also very good bullets....Most of the 7x57s that I have owned were FN, 98 Mausers, or Brno Mausers, with a couple of pre 64 mod.70s tossed in, but I think the Win had a 1x10, but the difference in 1x9 and 1x10 never seemed to make a lot of difference in the slower velocity rounds IMO....I have seen a difference in the magnum 7MMs, they are critical to bullet weight and stabilization as a rule and I contribute that to the high velocity....

Most of the 1x9 twist or those close will handle about anything from 120 Sierras to 175 gr. bullets in the 7x57s as a rule...
