I am in the process of rebuilding a rolling block and need the hammer and breech block pins heat treated. I made them out of oil hardening drill rod. I need to find someone that can do the treatment, I don't think they have to be real hard as the originals are really soft. I can send one of the originals for comparing if necessary. Never rode a bull, but have shot some. NRA life member NRA LEO firearms instructor (retired) NRA Golden Eagles member

Rolland, You might try Pacific Metaurlical Inc. They are in Kent WA. Ph. 253-854-4241 www.pacmet.com I have not used them yet, but have heard good reports about them. I spoke to Jim there a few days ago and was impressed. They do aerospace & Military stuff. Good prices = 100.00 to heat treat two mauser 98 actions & bolts, With about one week turn around. Good luck Allen PS let us know who you use and how it went. It's a Mauser thing, you wouldn't understand.

You can do that yourself with a oxyacetylene (or similar) torch. Simply heat them to a cherry red and quench in oil. Then lightly polish them and heat very slowly until they turn blue and quench them again to temper them and you're off and running. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
