Drilling and tapping a Talley base...

Just wondering if it is possible/efficient to drill and tap a talley base for a small screw. I ask because I thought I read somewhere that they are hardened. How hard, I don't know.

I've been looking at the Brockman/talley Pop-up peep sight. It comes from Brockman pre-installed, but I haven't been able to get ahold of him to purchase one. I do have a source where I can buy just the pop-up peep assembly and attach it to a Talley base. It just requires drilling and tapping a single hole. Thoughts?

Are you just looking for the base in m70? If so I have one that a removed the sight from. You would need to educate me on which m70 it fits though. As I'm am not up on the winnies. If you want to try it send me your address.
