Machined from billet aluminum for $55 It looks like they make them for alot of popular rifles. Unfortunately I didn't see any for left handed rifles but I emailed them about it. Check them out here: http://www.dednutz.com/index.php Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. Is there an advantage to the one piece base plate vs. two seperate base/rings like the Talley product? http://www.talleyrings.com/lightweight.php

For a start your rings are more likely to be in exact alignment. One piece base can help add stiffness to an action which can only help accuracy. IMHO these bases look die cast rather than machined but I may be wrong. Regardless they look good and well made.

I don't see any machine marks either. Maybe they cast a basic unit and then machine the bottom side to fit the specific receiver? It kind of reminds me of the TC Duo-ring mount. With the TC mount, the front and rear upper ring halves are marked to go back on the end they came off of.

jtinidaho, My first reaction was to think of the Talley's too. I would prefer the two-piece Talley's, and do use them on a 300Wby M700 to good effect: Less ostruction of the loading/ejecting port, pretty and precise, and about as light-weight and rugged as possible. How much can a strip of aluminum on a one-piece base stiffen an action?

The website says machined from billet. The answered my email and do have left handed models for Savage, Winchester and Remington. If you pefer a two piece just cut the middle out. Then you also have the option of reversible front & rear bases if you need them. I see there are none for Mausers. But the Talley's are only $41.95 for a set to fit Mauser 98 large ring or small ring. They are better priced AND better finished, more gracefully contoured. And you want me to pay more plus take a hacksaw to the DedNutz to fix them up? More than my nuts would have to be dead for me to do that!
