Is it wrong to us epoxy on these
I'm thinking a Short Mag Burris scope and these rings :-)

Rick 0311Are you talking about for smoothing up all the roughness? If so, I would start with lapping them a bit first and see how they clean up.

N E 450 No2Usually that type of mount is silver soldered to the scope.
I think it requires a steel tube scope that can be disassembled before soldering the rings to the tube. I am not 100% sure about this.
I do not know if epoxy would hold.
You could have new "regular" rings made to fit the claw bases.
PS: I have a rifle with "half rings"and claw mounts, so I am familar with the system.

Claven2My smith starts with the highest Leupold turn-in rings and then machines the claw bits out of the bottom of these rings. You end up with a vrey nice set of modern style rings for the claw mounts

Those maounts are for silver soldering and would look great on an old Hensoldt or Pecar IMHO...

Jim KobeI don't think those mounts were silver soldered. The ones I have seen were soft soldered and this also included the base to receiver.

jeffeossoi would expect epoxy would be the wrong answer, though on a light enough rifle it could work.
