Wondering how much this would cost me. I would like nice wood with a little figure in it. The rifle is a Tikka 695 7mm mag. I have to shoot lefty due to an eye injury, but after all of these years shooting from the wrong side, a lefty rifle just doesn't feel natural. The tikka isn't a "pretty" rifle, but it sure shoots well. Thanks guys (and gals) Have a happy new years eve, but please be safe too. Joe Lt. Robert J. Dole, 10th Mountain, Italy.

Your best bet is to just purchase a LH stock which is not yet inletted and have it inletted for your RH action. Ths is not a big deal, but may cost some money. I purchased a Richards Micro-fit LH for my LH Montana and had my 'smith finish it out. It came to me inletted for the Winchester M70 which the MRC closely resembles, but did not yet have the notch for the bolt handle cut. I think this is how most semi-inlet, unfinished stocks come to the purchaser. I hasten to add that you should in no way purchase a Richards. They have tons of extra wood on them and this costs mucho money to remove-- as in with a chain saw. My stockwork was approximately $1500 of the total $3900 cost. Look into a Boyd's or a Serengeti and ask if the production line can pull one off before the bolt handle cutout is made. Look around; don't pull the trigger too fast on this one. The extra time spent researching will reap greater satisfaction in the long run.

I'm not in a terrible hurry, as the Tikka's plastic stock works. I don't really want a stock that's too pretty to hunt with either. Just getting old enough to appreciate a nicer looking rifle. Lt. Robert J. Dole, 10th Mountain, Italy.

AC, I too am a forced lefty due to eye problems. I recently ordered a lefty thumbhole for a righty 700 thru Elk ridge stocks. Mine is a laminated version and it worked out well. Shawnie has alot of styles available at a decent price and can do walnut as well as laminates. Shawnie also did a lefty thumbhole for a 10-22mag for me, I just got it a few weeks ago. There are many styles and colore to choose. Lots of luck with it. I did all my own wood work as well as all the smithing too. Bill Davis

Who is Shawnie? Would that be a misspelling of Shawnee? URL, please.
