Does anyone know who is making a full flanged Mauser style 3-position safety for the CZ 550? Tom Burgess did one for me many years ago as shown in the following pictures. I was away for quite a few years and I just got back into hunting and shooting recently and learned that Tom had passed a few years back so he is not around to make another one for me. What a great man Tom was!!! Thanks!

Contact Ed LaPour. You can find him by doing a Google search.

Tom was indeed a great man. He helped me quite a bit along the way. I owe a great deal to him.

Many years ago, Tom also worked over my CZ550 .416 Rigby. He replaced the bolt handle and installed a one off trigger. Beautiful trigger.

Luckily, Ed Lapour makes a three position safety for the 550.

Wayne Jacobson at American Hunting Rifles has made and installed two for me and they are excellent. A person could not find a better company or man to do business with either.

Guys, he was asking about a "full flanged, Mauser style" safety. The one Ed Lapour makes is very small and does not have a flange.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Appreciate all the suggestions. JBrown nailed it. Most well known 3-position safeties for the CZ 550 do not have a full gas flange like the one in the pictures. Thanks!

Mingbogo,

A few years back I asked Ed LaPour if he could make me a 3 Pos safety for the cz55o with a gas flange. Ed told me he had the fixtures to do the work but if I remeber correctly did not make any due to the modifications that have to be made to the reciever.

Give Ed a call and see what he has to say.

Thanks David for the lead! It's been a while but I don't believe that Tom made any mod on this action but he did mod the bolt release lever to branch it out a little further just to clear the flange. If Ed is setup to make one with a gas flange then he could also make a bolt release lever to work with it. Nonethless, I will give him a shout to see what he can do.
