Loose Dovetails?

In an effort to get both the front and rear sights to stay put on my Pre War M70, the previous owner hammered the hell out of the front sight and the dogknot dovetails.

I managed to square the damage away and blue to match, but I am still stuck with slip fit sights...

The ol' timers would use shellac to hold sights in place. Is there something more modern? I really don't want to beat on the gun anymore. Would blue lock tite hold?

DeeBee--

Go to the auto parts store and buy a feeler guage set. Find out what it takes slipped under the sight to tighten it up and buy a strip of that size. It's usually about .004.........

....or you can be lazy like me and have a couple flea market feeler sets laying around with "trimmed" leaves. [Smile]

For a "loctite" type of fix..LocTite makes a product called QuickMetal that would probably work better for the large gap..Or epoxy it in place with JB Weld.
