Improving cylinder-crane alignment on double action Colt revolvers?

Colt double action revolvers have a single cylinder rear aligning pin twice the diameter of S&W and Ruger's. They also have a hand or ratchet that rotates cylinders clockwise and furnishes firm pressure on cylinder assembly when revolver is being fired.

Despite this OEM cylinder-crane alignment being substantial and sturdy, I have wondered for years whether creating a vertically functioning spring-loaded ball and detent at front of crane's yoke to enhance these revolvers' alignment would have significant benefit. S&W, Ruger's GP series (and Redhawk and Super Redhawk), Charter Arms, and High Standard 22 RF revolvers all incorporate a front engagement - all but S&W (excluding New Century 1st Model aka "Triple Lock") having a yoke lock. I spring-loaded ball popping into a detent or depression appears to be such a simple addition that it could almost be a home workshop job. I don't think this arrangement would be difficult to clean or maintain. . . which brings me back to where I began.

Has such a device been tried? If it has, was cylinder-crane alignment demonstrably improved?

Suspenders with a belt. Could it be done? Sure. Does it need to be done?

Why bother, just buy a good revolver made by a Smith & Wesson or auger.
