What exactly is required to transfer a rifle from an individual in another state to a California resident. In the past, all my FFL needed was a photo copy of the other individuals DL, now he insists the deal must be FFL to FFL. Does anyone know the chapter and paragraph of the CDOJ regs that cover such a transfer? My FFL seems unable to deal with the electronic DROS form which is only setup to accept a FFL, or a California DL, or Military ID from the seller. --S40

I think all you need is a ink signed ffl from the buyer. You may have to send a copy of your DL to the ffl holder that you ship to.

I dont think its writen law . Just the Calif FFL licenced gun shops are asking for extra documintation because the Communist Ca authoritys are hassleing and threatining the gun shop owners, so the gun shop owners are just trying to cover their asses.

All the candy ass liberal, anti gun cry baby, assholes, from the eastern states have moved to Calif and totaly fucked up Calif.

All transfers in California must go through a California FFL holder. The CA FFL holder must take delivery and enter the purchaser's personal information into the State database to start the waiting period.

You got that right. I was born here and I can remember what California was like before the invasion, nothing like it is today. A lot of those people are moving from SoCal to NorCal and the same thing is starting to happen up here in NorCal and Southern Oregon.

A few are trying to enter Idaho. We stop everybody at the border and make them eat a plate of barbecued ribs and shoot some ground squirrels (we substitute cats when the squirrels are denned up) before we let them through the border crossing. Helps us keep the riff-raff in and the sauvignon blanc sucking poofters out.

No ... I bet 98% of the people in Calif were not born there. They are from back east(eastern U.S.[that means anything east of colorado]) and some other frickin country.

I was born there in 1957 and grew up in Orange groves and beautiful rolling hills. You could ride horses on the beach. I remember how it was long ago too. The new people dont know shit!
I watched all the eastern fricks move into Ca and Totaly Fuck the whole state up. Where I grew up as a kid doesnt exist anymore.
I moved and went to college in Idaho in 1976.

The buyer's CA FFL holder must send his FFL to the FFL of the seller--then the seller's FFL sends the gun to the buyer's FFL--you fill out the transfer/background check papers after 10 days you can pick up your gun---chris

I don't think anybody answered your question. The last time I looked at ATF regs...your FFL dealer here can recieve the gun and the law does not require it besent to him/her by another FFL dealer in your state. The deal does not have to be FFL to FFL

The individual shipping the gun in the other state does not need a copy of the FFL either. For the ohter persons piece of mind...ask your FFL dealer for the exact name on his FFL license and the seller can confirm that his FFL is valid with ATF. They must send though a copy of their driver's license.

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Mike D, You are correct . I checked the ATF web site ,and only the buyer needs a signed copy ffl to ship too. Though, Some Calif gun shops are being harassed by some Calif Goon squad about documentations of transfers. The Piss Ants ,panty waste, liberals pussys, are trying to shut down gun sales In Calif and put gun shops out of business.
