I need some of the older style round crossbolts that Weaver used on their rings before going to the newer bolt that has a square cross section. The bolt is round in cross section, the threads for the knurled nut are the same but the head is also knurled so it bites into the opposite side of the ring. I believe these were used in the 1950's and I need a couple of replacements for a period scope mount. I'm also looking for a set of Weaver rings in 26mm. All leads appreciated. Rob

One inch and 26MM are close enough that you should be able to use a one inch Weaver ring. Even ERA uses the same ring for both. As long as you use a 1/3 - 2/3 sptit ring you're OK. Trouble begins with equal length halves, if that makes any sense. Didn't to me so: Talley, Redfield, Millet and other rings with equal havles can crush a 26MM scope. ERA, Weaver and other rings with unequal halves won't and in many cases the manufacturer uses the same part number for 1" and 26MM. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Thanks, I tried a 26mm Bearcub in 1" weaver rings and it looked like it would pop. Only was able to get 2-3 threads engaged and the gap was much wider than with a 1" scope. Weaver made 26mm rings, so I can wait till I find some. Got the crossbolts though. Rob
