About 20 of us are going to be released into the wilds of Germany with hunting licenses in a month. I have headspace gauges for the calibers that I shoot, and my interest is primarily in bolt action and single shot (falling block) rifles. A lot of guys are interested in combo guns and double rifles as small caliber double rifles are cheap enough here to consider that. What are some things you look for in selecting a combo gun or double rifle? The only big one I know is to look at the face of the receiver, and to see if the butt stock is loose. Anything else?

If the barrels are tight, and the bores are good, and you like it, then OK. Of course, for a double rifle, it has to shoot both bullets fairly close together. Make sure it doesn't fire when you close the barrels smartly, or when you fire one barrel, but the small calibers usually don't double. But I doubt they will let you fire them before buying.
