Went to remove this pad from a newly acquired Rem700 SPS... Can't figure out what screws they used. Tried a flat screwdriver, then phillips. Did not put much pressure on the driver, but I can't seem to get a decent bite on the screw head. What screws are they using? Thanks!

All of the Rem Syn recoil pads I've removed had Phillips and sometimes you have to press firmly to get a bite. It also helps if you apply alittle lube on the shaft of the driver so it will turn in the soft rubber easily. I've installed a few of the pads you are talking about and they all had phillips. I have an XCR stock that os similar to the stock you are speaking of that I haven't tried to back out the screws yet but, I'm willing to bet it's phillips as well. Good Luck Reloader

If it is a synthetic it may be glued on.

The stock is the synthetic SPS. Pad does have the two screw hole, and I can feel something at the end with my screwdriver. Maybe screwed AND glued? I dunno..

You could call Rem and ask.

Michauxii First time in many years, I ran into one that was attached with torx head screws. You might give it a try. Craftsman
