Anyone know of a good smith for barreling, chambering and re-working the extractor on a large-action Martini? Closer to Oregon the better.
Thanks.

Thanks Butchloc. We used to have a fella here in Oregon named Jim Wassmundt who did Martini work, but I believe he is now out of the game.

Give Perry Mittelstadt a call. He is now located neer Grand Junction Colorado. Phn # 970-856- 7569. I'm not sure if has messed with the large action martini, but I suspect he has. I have seen several small action martini and remington rolling block rifles that he has worked over (Including bushing the breach and makeing new fireing pins. He converts the small action martinis from rimfire to centerfire as well. The color-case-hardening that he does to rolling blocks is incredible!

Andy Manson passed away in 2008 from heart failure. I visited his shop a few years ago in Chama.

I don't know who does them the best, but I do know that Bob Snapp has been specializing in Martinis for at least 30 years now. At one time I believe he used to supply rimless extractors for them to the trade....matter of fact, I bought some of his myself about 1967 or '68.

Bob is definitely the best but I believe he's semi-retired now.
