Is it possible to convert a M70 action in 375 H&H to 300 win mag? Found a deal on one in 375, but don’t need a 375. If the conversion is possible without much fuss, might buy it for the action to use down the road.

As I understand it, the 375 length is the same length as the long action, but has a bigger box and some meat removed in back to accommodate the longer 375.

No experience with the swap but it should not be difficult. If possible I would keep the long box and follower and have the barrel throated so that you can use heavy bullets loaded out to 3.6 oal or so. More powder room, less compression.

Any concern over the rails/feeding?

I don't reload, so prefer easily obtainable ammo.

Win 70 feeding is addressed by the magazine, your swap will be no problem. I wouldn't worry about the bolt stop. Heck you could use the same magazine and follower if you really wanted, but getting the 300 win box and follower is easy peasy. Midwest gunworks, probably run you about $50. No other changes necessary.

Is it a push feed or CRF Win 70? Possibly interested in you barrel/mag/ follower

Although honestly, unless the 375 deal is a DEAL, like $400....just buy a 300 Win Mag. You can find them all day for $6-700 used, maybe less. If you are ok with a PF M70, under $500 or so is entirely possible

You just need a barrel; nothing else needs changing; the 300 WM will work and I have done it.
But MHS is right; just buy one; it will be much cheaper.

It’s a CRF for $550. I like to build stuff, but a kimber in 300 would get me to the end result for less.

Trying to resist. Made it the whole year so far without buying a rifle. Trying to stay strong, haha.

I would jump on that price (and have for a few builds lately). I just looked through my usual haunts online, the Classics seem to be more like $700+ at the moment. Of course with Christmas coming up deals will be had. I'd LOVE to buy a CRF M70 375 for that price, I paid 650 for a 300 Wby for the sole purpose of converting to 375

They had TC Compass 300 WMs here last week for $250 with a $75 rebate.
I would rather build one too.
