I am trying to find out what an acceptable freebore for a 270 WSM should be. I heard they can range from .01 inch to .001 inch. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks.

MikeL,

"Freebore" is as it says, the area of the bore that is free of "riflings" or the throat. Freebore changes with seating depth. To increase freebore, seat your bullets deep into the case. To reduce freebore, seat your bullets towards the lands. There is no magical number to give you that is guaranteed to work for your rifle. You will have to experiment to see what seating depth or amount of freebore works for you.

Good luck,

Malm
