I asked the same question in the Lever forum, but no answer yet. Well folks, are the gears and cams in a BLR stainless, stainless?, brass?, carbon steel or something else? If they are easy to rust, this looks like a bear to clean up if the rifle takes a dunking or a through wetting down.

carbon steel is the answer for that, and yes they are a pain in the butt to time after taking them apart

i know they used to be carbon steel -- no clue on the new ones .. same thing on SW stainless revolvers ... the guts and gears are carbon steel
