Gents,

Does anyone know the correct procedure for the removal of the Recoil Plate Cross Pin (key number 11 at: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/schematics/schemmfg.aspx?schemid=96&m=13&mn=Ruger® )???

I am preping for rebluing operations and have to remove it. It is a damned if I do or damned if I don't scenario so I might as well remove it so that the firing pin rebound spring does not loose its tempering. The dilemma posed is not only the contour of the rearward portion of the cylinder, but that the pin does not go all the way across the frame. At any rate, it shall obviously require the need to destroy the current pin.

Also, I do not know if by the removal of that subassembly, should each or any of those corresponding components (other than the pin itself) be replaced?

Any information would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Alex, If you open the loading gate, you should see that pin going up at a 45 deg. angle. That is the pin that needs to be drifted out to remove the recoil plate and firing pin. I don't have one in front of me but I am pretty sure thats all there is to it.

Thanks Sooner!

I probed that hole initially but apparently misread it as well as the angle of the pin.

I will give you a eureka follow up later this week (when the stuff arrives). Thanks again!
