My Savage 12FLVSS in 223Rem looks to be built on a long action. The back 1/2" or so of the cartridge box is blocked off before the feed lips begin. My problem is that when I seat bullets out to just short of the lands, they are too long to fit the box and I have to single load them. Has anyone addressed this problem and produced replacement parts to lengthen the usable portion of the cartridge box? Much thanks, Ian

The bolt stop has to be shortened and a new follower installed .I had the same trouble in a remington 223 a few years back.

Upon closer examination, the block looks to be easily removed and the bolt stop doesn't seem to be an issue, the bolt slides open all the way to the back of the box. Did you have to special order a longer follower for that caliber or will any Savage long action follower work? I'm not sure if they differ in shape from caliber to caliber. thanks, Ian
