I'm tasked with putting a PE type scope mount on a M44 round reciever. The easiest method I can come up with is to use a sacrificial barrel stub (the barrel is off now) and hold the reciever by the stub in a set of blocks in the mill vice so that the reciever can be easily rotated about its center to put the two rows of the M5 screw holes and the two top pin holes in. This way I can drill and tap thru without fear of buggering the real barrel's threads. I'm open to other ideas if anybody has done this before. Rusty's Action Works Montross VA. How many holes do you need and where? I have drilled holes in 91/40 receivers. They are flat bottomed, round topped receivers like a Mauser. You can just put the receiver in the mill vise on it's side or straight up.

8 holes all in the front ring. 2 that are TDC .118 dia. 3 M5x0.5 on the right side (haven't measured the angle but at about 70 degrees from TDC). and 3 M5x0.5 on the left side at -70deg from TDC I made an aluminum barrel stub and its set up in the mill. I know this method will work, just wanted to see if there was a better way. I'm too far into this set up to change now. Looks like this :http://home.comcast.net/~yzhu/accumount/class1/Russian/PE.htm ignore the hex mount (last pic) Rusty's Action Works Montross VA. That is allot of screws. I have had the problem that my 91/30 cantilever shook the reticle out of a Leupold Vari-II 2x7. scope. Leupold replaced it with a VX-I 2x7. Now I am looking for a way to make a damper or stiffener.
