I saw a savage 20 for sale ,but there was no picture. I wonder which kind of action is used in this rifle? is it a savage's own design or a mauser action was used. please give me your opinion about these rifles

It was Savages own. a small ring short action offered mainly in 250 and 300. Tang safety, cheap bottom metal and a miserable trigger. That said, they do have a certain appeal (I have 2 in 250 and a 300). They are miserable to scope due to the slit bridge aka MS and a few others. One of mine has the corret redfield mounts, another has a weaver one piece altered and mounted across the rear and front of the receiver. The other has a correct peep sight. There was a neat cocking piece sight made for them and some others made by Redfield and Lyman. I have seen a lot of broken stocks on the first generation (beautiful stck for iron sights, just weak in areas). The later version (1926) addressed this by fitting a club to the action. Do I like them? Yes! Would I recommend them? NO, unless you want something different and are willing to deal with the characteristics. Do a search on here, there have been several discussions of them in the past. Neat guns.

I saw one of these the other day with a duplicated stock in .300 with a very nice bore at a gunshop in Grants Pass, Oregon -- Russco Guns. It had to weight close to 6 pounds. Sweet!
