I think that the Custom Gunmakers show is over by now. Did anybody here go? Can you provide a report as to what was interesting. Anybody have any photos to show?

Yup, it is over. I went on Saturday afternoon, and also took in the Bladesmith's Show. I saw the usual collection of great work. I visited Jerry Fisher's booth and the 3rd Ultimate Enfield, the feel of cycling the bolt on this rifle is wonderful.

A friend of mine was watching his brother's booth, so I got side-tracked there.

Several of the folks I usually visit with didn't come this year.

It was my first time there and the hardware was absolutely mind blowing. Some of the show guns are a little "over the top" for my tastes but still a marvel to see the skill of these folks. I liked the Biesen rifles, the HAGN single shots and Duane Wiebe's work. I slobbered over stacks of wood blanks for sale. Bought a raffle ticket for the Dakota 10 that was Don Allen's last work. I could go on and on.....

What really caught my eye was Pete Grisel's .260 rem, Heym actioned, fiddle-backed full stock (mannlicher) rifle. It was like a Maryanne in a room full of Gingers. It was short and sweet and you wouldn't be embarrassed to show it to Mama!

It was amazing. In part, it was amazing in that all these folks you read magazine articles about are there: Jim Wisner, Al Lind, Duane Wiebe, the Dressels, the Biesens. Then you go around and embarrass yourself by mispronouncing all their names, since you've only seen them in print!

The rifles are all amazing, of course. The wood in the room was so nice that it was almost a sensory overload. I bought a raffle ticket on the ACGG rifle, too. The single shots and the Mausers really got to me.

Sorry, I did not take any pics this year. The show was good, but IMO not as good as last year. This is largely because several of the folks that I know weren't there, and I promised my wife I would not buy any wood! The Raffle gun was amazing, and I believe it broke the record for most tickets sold. Next year's rifle is finished and was on display.

I just couldn't stop myself from chiming in, the Action on Pete Grisel's .260 rem, was not a "Heym" it is a "wff Hein" action. Unfoturnatly, but not intentionally there has been some confusion between the two companies.

Hmmmm....Well I'll be gillfarted and strangle hoisted.

Guess my hearing ain't what it used to be. Curmudgeon status can't be that far away now.

Karl, that was a damn fine action, whatever you want to call it and I will investigate wff Hein further.

Had to go back and pull this thread back out. We got our photos back, finally, and thought you guys might like to see the 260 that Elmo was talking about. In the picture is Pete Grisel with Greg Hein holding the rifle.
