Making a new boxed floor plate only 3/8ths deeper
OK

Just a ball park figure here, but I'm thinking of taking my basic flat alloy Ruger 77 floor plate into a machinest and saying

"I want another one of these made of mild steel but I want it 3/8 deeper, (coffin) boxed similar to a weatherby floor plate"

I dont want the follower box made longer or a new stock with deeper wood work around the follower box.

I want the extra depth to come from the floor plate, just another 3/8 would do it.

I'm might also need to replace the follower spring as well

Jeffe assures me it can be done, anything can be done if your willing to pay for it I suppose.

So

Has anybody had one made ?

Do you thin a Weatherby one could be cut, welded and made to fit ?

whats your guess as to how much it would cost, is it too big a job

I've seen it before. There are a number of people that post on this forum that could do the work. Problem is, most people want something like this, until they hear how much it will be.

A good machinist in your area could make what you want, I'm sure. Once you get your new floorplate, you may need a longer spring.
