I'll bet that will be a fun job trying to get that stub out of the action.

I think in this case he would have to give it to me and pay postage before I'd have it.

It's not worth the time it took to take the photos.

For 33 bucks it might be good for practicing some operations on before you do it on your good action.

I don't know. Many people have cut 98 mauser actions, removed a portion, and welded them back to make a "kurz" action. So, somebody could be buying this to cut and use for the back part of a welded long action.

Why would someone risk his reputation by trying to sell that! & for $20!

Doug,

yours is "fixable". A local guy who does Cera-Kote tells me it is possible to bead blast the action, fill the pits with JB-weld and smooth them, then just Cera-Kote and the pits are undetectable.

Centre it, face it off to clean up and then turn out the barrel stub down to just touching the receiver threads. A thin cut or two to allow the remaining barrel threads to be picked out. They make take-down actions with interrupted threads so a couple of fine cuts across the receiver threads is not going to hurt.

Worthwhile doing? Depends just how much you want the action. I would if someone gave it to me just for the hell of it.

Who know why the buyer wanted it. I have a couple junk receivers I use for various task like contouring scope bases. Hopefully he just doesn't try to make a shooter out of it.
