I have a Winchester Mod 70 in 7mm Rem Mag that I am considering rebarreling. My first inclination was to go with a 26" barreled .338 Win Mag, but with the availability of the .338 Norma Mag improving I am wondering if it can be done reasonably in the gun I have. Would the bolt face be able to be opened up to accept it? Would I need a new bolt? Maybe a dumb idea, but if the .338WM shines, the Norma version may outshine it by enough to be worth the trouble.

The bolt face will take the Norma round and mag length should be okay. The feed rails may need tweaking.

The 338 WM will give you many more ammo options than the Norma.

Opening the bolt face to .585 leaves the supporting edge razor thin. If you want something in .338 with more shine than the Win Mag version, then there is the great .338 RUM, or even the .338 Edge. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. Wouldn't the Edge (338RUM IMP) be to long? Can I get a 416 Bolt to work with the Norma Mag?
