Hi

I got a rem 700 Adl with the original open sights. Is there anybody that has a trick for remving the front sight? I have tried to unscrew it but is seems so be totaly unmovable! The problem is that I can see the sight trough my scope when it's sett on the lowest power, and I don't like that. The other part was already removed when I got it.

I am afraid of forcing it to much because the screw dosn't seem to be of that hard steel and I might slip and hurt the blueing on the barrel, etc...

Any hints for someone with no tecnical skils?

Johan

There is another screw hidden under the sight insert. Drift the insert out and you will see it.

If you are having trouble getting the two small screws out, you might try impacting them with a short, hex screwdriver. I use the Champman tools which has a special bit that will not fall through a 1/4" ratchet box wrench.
Any short hex screwdriver that fits the slot should work. Hold it with a small ViceGrip and tap the end with a brass hammer. Try to put some torque on the bit as you are tapping it with the brass hammer.
Works for me on this and also on scope ring and base screws.

Saeed solved this another way. He changed scopes for one that did not have such a wide field on the low end.
All you really have to do is don't turn the magnification down so far. With some scopes you can see the end of the bare barrel too. Then what are you going to do?

Okay. I didn't know about the second screw. I will try again now. I do see the barrel in the scope too, but I will not change the scope, the barrel I can handle, but not the front sight. Also I got a 1.5-6 scope because I hunt in dense wood so I need the 1.5 setting when hunting..

Thanks for the help.
