Yes. I see these as just a misplaced grasp causing a mag full of ammo to drop to the ground. I use only factory Mauser releases. If you want a quick release, get an Argentine 09 type. | |||

Yes, I think they are pinned, and some have a thin coil compression spring outside the plunger to keep it tensioned. I have also seen a design that uses two standard Mauser release plungers. One has the big end ground back the thickness of its spring flange and trued flat. The other has its spring guide cut off and squared/trued to the flange. The two are then brazed together. With some careful fitting of the floor plate lug and hole it will operate as an extended release. Same principle as the commercial type. It stays under firm spring tension and would be hard to accidentally release.
