Have been slowly accumulating references and small indicators, Indicol, gauges etc. on e-bay. You have to be careful of course.

Anyway, a fellow had some reference books, nothing special, but I got a bidding frenzy going on three of them. They all went for more than the price of a new book....

Of course, the savings were all wiped out yeasterday when I had to rent a gi-nourmous fork lift to move a mill.... Just as we were getting ready to put it into the "secure" storage facility, I saw several of the local denizens eye-balling the proceedings with an unhealthy degree of interest. Better to eat the $200.00 USD rental price and start looking for a place all over, than to have some prime pig iron swiped.

you think they would try to steal the mill? they'd be a bit conspicuous doing it. Big Grin

Or you have other stuff in there? I'll tell you from personal experience in my neighborhood (which my friend affectionately calls the "favela"), just the fear of somebody stealing the stuff makes it worth it to spend the money to fix. I spend about a grand setting up cameras here at the house, I'm not apprehensive about leaving the house any more.

He, he,

Crystal Meth is the state flower of Idaho.

"I've got mine." is the state motto. It used to be, "What have you done for me today?"

This deal was to be a temporary arrangement. My little nose just started getting twitchy. Too many druggies and wet-backs in the surrounding neighborhood. It is my fault for listening to a former marine who suggested the location.

The final shop will be very secure. I agree about the cameras Dago. It is good to have a V.ID before going hunting. A few free roaming bison will help as well.

Get this, after typing my post I spent the last hour and twenty minutes pouring over the footage, printing out a few pics for tomorrow.

Wondered today why there were dirt clods UNDER my car when I pulled out. A few weeks back I had come out to discover somebody had thrown dirt clods at my car, scratching the paint bad in one spot. that was pre-camera. I looked back and sure enough found the little bastards having a dirt clod fight in my front yard with my explorer as a backdrop. Gonna go talk to the parents that are the root problem. My next door neighbors unfortunately do not supervise their kids at all, result is that all kids in the neighborhood of the persuasion to be trouble makers hang out there and, you guess it, make trouble. So far in last 16 months.....

car egged
change stolen out of car
dirt clods thrown at car
friends truck stolen from in front of house
kids hitting friends car as he comes to my house

Unfortunately the camera recording was not set to highest quality, I think I could get better pics so turned the quality to max for next time. We'll see what the parents think of this. I'd like to find out where all the kids parents live, pay them all a visit.

YOu guys should get some of those cyanide guns (without the cyanide) the govt. trappers use for coyotes. Fill them with indelible ink. Bait the denizens with something shiny and set up your video cameras. You could start a new chapter of blue man group and send the video to America's funniest!

Red,

That sucks. It's a real shame, cause I can remember back in the day when Fresno (and a lot of other Ca. cities) wasn't the shithole it is today. I bailed from the Bay Area 20yrs ago, ain't goin' back there or any other place else that even resembles it

Put a bug in some of the neighbors ears that if the crap doesn't stop your going to move and rent it out to undesireables or crackheads or meth fiends.

That's what I told the mayor and others that live in my neighborhood who thought they were above the rest of us and I haven't had any more problems.

It gets harder to move away from the scum every year. Once things are set up down by where I live there should be no worries.

The table on the K.O. Lee is getting ground on Saturday. I might even have a line on an air bearing fixture for sharpening end mill bits, etc.

Will have to build mandrels for the surface grinding.

Any body have a spare 5"x10" Walker Ceramax magnet for about $50.00 Big Grin?

LD just dump about a dozen rattlesnakes in that storage building & let the druggies see you doing it. That should make it fairly secure. Big Grin.

This was done once in Florida in a auto parts house that was plagued by constant robberies. They had the snakes in a big glass tank in the front for everyone to see & would take all but one out at closing time & let them roam the store. Round them up in the morning before opening. No more robberies! thumb

Those devices are felony charges waiting to descend on you. Oregon law prohibits even setting up a sling shot as a "set gun." Most states -- if not ALL states -- prohibit setting up "traps" using firearms.

Besides which, it's really irresponsible. If you're going to shoot at something, you need a "shooter" who can make a rational decision about what's being shot -- not some "dumb trap."

There's no security system in the world that matches insurance for peace of mind.

This is my way of thinking... Like I always like to tell the Anti Gun Liberals....

If you are really anti Gun, put a big sign on your roof, that states... " there are NO firearms in this home"....

it would be fun to see how long it takes for the house to get broken into,.... but so far, no one has ever taken me up on that... at least to my knowledge... shame

We are never short of rattlesnakes in this County (some with no legs, some with two).

The problem (one among many, at least) with druggies is that they no longer think in an adaptive manner. They have and will do literally anything to get money, guns and drugs (which all equate to the same thing in their system of barter).

Insurance will not bring back a life, your health or any irreplaceable artifact. Crimminals do tend to be lazy and opportunistic (all those crime caper movies to the contrary). They will generally go after the easiest target.

Normally this would mean that liberals should be extinct by now, but we all know liberal chicks are easy (Dixie Chicks are just twits).

Anyway, I'm looking for some dry concrete to store two mills, a lathe and a tool & cutter grinder on this winter. And that beats the hell out of being some creep wondering where the next high is coming from (which in turn beats being a liberal).

Maybe it's time for a nice large dog that doesn't like people that climb over the fence. I never thought a meter reader could climb a fence that fast until he looked at the Mastiff we had coming at him at Warp 3....... Smiler.......DJ

Hi GSP7,

I'm South of the river in Owyhee County; between Marsing and Murphy.
All the good deputies leave after a couple years to make a living wage. I can't comment on the level of stress related health problems among long time employees of the department.

I couldn't even convince the County to spray for the West Nile Epidemic, and I don't raise cattle.

Emmett police would be welcome. You would be in for a bit of culture shock, I suspect.

The one worrisome mill is stranded in Nampa right now. The other machines are safe in a warehouse in Meridian, but they are getting antsy for me to move them out.
