Have a new-to-me early (mid-50's) .222 BSA rifle with the integral 19mm dovetail receiver. Am looking for rings to fit this, hopefully 'mediums' (no more than .5"). There is no recoil lug hole or slot. I believe it to be the same as Parker Hale mounting of the era.

Am struggling to figure out if there are commercially available rings available in USA. Done a lot of googling; Warne, Leupold, Brownells and cannot find anything current.

I'm going to continue to search for some vintage BSA/Parker Hale rings. But I'd like to have a fallback plan...can 19mm CZ rings be modified to work?

You can get the Warne Rings for the Brno 600. You then have to mill the lug off the rear ring and install recoil studs for the BSA. I've done this a few times and it works out fine. Regards, Bill

I do almost the same thing that Bill does but I mill the slot for the recoil lug in the rear bridge of the receiver for the Warren ring to lock into. I just lock the receiver in the mill vise and push a carbide end mill into it. It's quick, neat and it works very well.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

Hi Matt. Try ebay.co.uk and you'll see these sort of rings no problem.

Now. No2 size is 7/8" 'scopes, No 3 size is 1" 'scopes, No 4 size is German/Austrain 26mm 'scopes and No 5 size is useless to you. No 5 being to fit the No 53 gun sight to a rifle so that it could be used as a rifle telescopic sight.

But...and here's the "nub" some of these PH rings also have different base widths so do ask the vendor if they fit the 19mm that you need.

Happy hunting.

If in London then a guy Joe Beatham at Gunshop East Barnet has many rings including Australian Hillver type. His website is "Gunshop E B" if you search that.

And he may have such BSA rifles that he can test the rings on to be sure they fit.

I think Warne came through with a solution for me. They are sending me two front rings meant for a CZ550/BRNO600 that will fit the 19mm dovetail. That way there is no recoil lug that needs to be ground off. According to the Tech at Warne (very helpful by the way) the Montana PH rifle uses the same arrangement (two such front rings).

Hopefully this will work and no modifications will be required.
