Howdy Guys, I am hoping that someone can shed alittle light for me. I have noticed on some sites, that they are selling Rem 700 barrels that have been rethreaded and chambered to fit the Savage 110 line. Is this common? How much work does it take to convert a Rem 700 barrel to fit a Savage rifle? Thanks Bill SUA SPONTE DE OPPRESSO LIBER

It's not too tough. The Rem threads are 1.062", Savage 1.050. Same pitch. Just turn the shoulder off the Rem barrel, take it to 1.050, and chase the thread for about 1.6 inches and you're there. A Savage barrel nut makes a handy gauge to see if you're there.

Rem T/O barrels are also being rethreaded to fit large ringed Mausers (Turkish "Kales") with the small (.980") ring threads.
