Has anyone ever heard of a barrel maker or gunsmith by the name of J.C. Teague? A friend picked up a custom 270 with the name J.C. Teague in the barrel. Gun is built on a Mauser action and has an octagon barrel. Gun is in mint condition, age is unknown but gun looks new. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Even if you haven't heard of the gunsmith (J.C. Teague), do you have any recommendations on resources that a person could turn to in an effort to get some information on this gunsmith?

There is also a possibility he could have been the owner of the rifle. There was a large rancher here in Texas by that name.

Seems to m that about 3 or 4 years ago that name popped up on a post on the Gunsmith Forum at Hunt America. If I remember right Teague is a old guy down it Florida who made several rifles for himself. Soemone else had a rifle with that name on it and tracked him down. This is really reaching back and I could be wrong. Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken [Big Grin]

Call Brownell's and ask them. If he's a gunsmith odds are very good he's ordered something from them.
