I have a stock that was made for VERY low iorn ssites. I stuck a comb raising stick-on rubber thing on it and it sure helps. i also have a couple of comb raisers that are reversed sloped, ie the comb nose is lower than the comb at the rear of the cheekpiece.

I have never shot a rifle with a reverse slope combe and was wondering what your opinion was about felt recoil. The pad on the rifle is pretty low in relation to the bore, but the pitch is perfect and it is a great fit on my shoulder. Was just wondering what it would be like if I peeled off the straight comb raiser and put one of the others on it

Thanks!

They work OK provided you inlet a bunch of fake ivory diamonds into the stock first.

Kidding aside, what is the gun chambered in? IMHO the advantage of a reverse comb is you don't get smacked in the cheek by recoil as much but my experiences were formed many many years ago when I was a kid shooting rifles that belonged to family friends, and that was when even an '06 was a handful.

The forward sloping comb is IMHO a good way to remove pain from recoil. We don't mind the recoil, it's the pain we don't want.....Tom

I have owned two Weatherby's in my life, one .460 and on in .378. I found those two rifles the "gentlest" (if you can even use that word for that recoil level cartridge) recoiling rifles I have shot in cartidges of that level.
