Mad4/27 ordered a forest camo thumbhole for SA Rem 700. 8 to 12 weeks ETA. On 12th week emailed them about stock on a friday they said they would ship on monday. When stock arrived it was for a LA and had the wrong color recoil pad on it and the glass kit I ordered with it was missing but they didn't forget to charge me for it. The stock was nice looking and the SA was for my son, so I offered to buy the LA for myself if they could get me another SA stock in a couple weeks. That was on a thursday, on friday they emailed me that they could do it. Son was away for weekend, I told him, he ask if he could get a different color didn't want the same one color as dads. Ask about color change on monday and they tell me can't do it that pushed someone elses order back to do the 2nd stock and if I wanted the color change 8 to 12 weeks again. My son said he wanted the stock. So I told them to ship it and include the glass kit missing from 1st order.
When 2nd stock arrived it was for a LA again and only 1 glass kit, I was charged for 2. I emailed them ask them if they knew the difference between a SA and LA as it was now september and the stock was to replace a broken stock. Didn't here from them for 2 weeks, tried calling them just got call can not be completed as dialed. They moved from Ca to Or and when they did respond "oops our mistake send them back for refund your credit card will be credited when we receive the stocks". With the shipment I enclosed a note about my displeasure with them and the poor service. A week after they signed for stocks no refend, I emailed them "You didn't have any trouble taking the money out what seems to be the trouble putting it back" They told me insults make them go slower! A week later I called, told them I informed credit card company of their practices. Got money 2 days later. THE WORST COMPANY I'VE EVER DELT WITH!!!!!

Dave,

I think you were screwed over when they made the mistake (which can happen with any company, and screwed a second, third, and fourth time, since the first time didn't teach you a lesson.

They sell the same exact patterns as Richard's Micro-Fit stocks (who have been in business for a LONG time), but they don't seem to satisfy their customers as well as Richard's.

George,
Your right about not learning my lesson, I was trying to get my son the stock he wanted. The reason we went with Elkridge and not Richards was that I read they didn't make their delivery dates,Read that on several different post. Live and LEARN

Dave,
I've ordered and placed several RMFs' My major complaint, of late, is that the action might not be 100% aligned with the stock, but that's usually workable.

If you order from them, make sure you write down the date you ordered, and call them about 2 weeks before the LATER date (8-10 weeks, call them at 8).

If you get it in, and don't like it, call them IMMEDIATELY. You can put some water on it to check the grain, but not one tool cut.

I find that if you understand what you are getting, they make a good bargin for the $$$.

While it's not walnut
I personally truely like the black and grey, which also frequently comes grey and green, as it looks like the browning eclipse stock in color.

one tip, wear a dust mask when working with the lam stocks (you SHOULD with all stocks but) as I have found the dust and glue are, well, nasty in your nose and throat.

Sorry to hear that you had a problem with Elk Ridge. I have bought two from them so far and both have been exactly what I ordered and were delivered ahead of time. One "thumbs up" does not even out one "thumbs down" but I did want to pass on that some of us have gotten good product from them.

I see this over and over and OVERRRR again about Elk Ridge and Richards. I will not go into my own story again as I have posted it many times but I will never do business with Richards again. Do they get some right...I'm sure so. WHO CARES!!!!!! They screw over too many folks for ANY of us to do buisness with them. Soap box here, but if we would ALL stop doing buisness with the hacks and promote the pro's (Bill Shehane, Tracker stocks comes to mind)maybe the hacks would be fewer.

I have only ordered 1 stock from Elk Ridge--they took a month longer than promised and the stock was a complete POS. I had to do way too much work on the stock to make it fit my 416 Rigby. Just last week I cut the stock in pieces and threw it away. Now the rifle is getting a piece of Bastogne (among other things.) I will not order another stock from them. I'm thinking from now on maybe I'll just buy a blank and do everything from scratch--that way I can only be upset with me! [Mad] [Big Grin]

Good Hunting,
