i was at a garage sale today and noticed there was a small rifle in the corner of the garage. i asked the guy about the rifle and he said it was his sons that he bought about a year ago. i noticed from the recoil pad that it was the one i sold 2 years ago. i made it myself from a chunk of rubber i had. the kid had spraypainted the whole gun chrome, then went over the barrel and action with an anodized blue type paint. thing looked like shit. the guy said i could have the gun for 10 bucks since he couldnt even get it to move. so i took my old rifle home and stuck the painted/rusty action in my bucket of paint stripper. i got the bolt out but the bolt is kinda rusty on the outside. any suggestions what i should use to strip this off? any suggestions on getting all the paint out of the trigger assembly and the inside of the action? i thought about seeing if the local engine shop could strip it like they do their engines but im not sure how it would work out. the bore of the gun is still in really good shape. if at first you dont succeed. blow it up. | ||

A good paint stripper is boiling water and 1 Tablespoon of lye per gallon of water. Dunk parts in let them sit for a bit and paint will peel right off. Should not hurt the blue But I may be wrong. You can also just lay the parts in a pan and soak in hot water it will take longer but will do the job. Be careful with the lye it's nasty stuff and really only use 1 Tbls per gallon it's all thats needed. TSP works as well www.KLStottlemyer.com Deport the Homeless and Give the Illegals citizenship.
